Guest ARTIST RESIDENCIES

The National Institute of Flamenco facilitates residencies with master guest artists in Flamenco and Spanish Dance each year. These residencies vary from 3-10 weeks, and serve multiple student populations, including the University of New Mexico, the Conservatory of Flamenco Arts, and Tierra Adentro of New Mexico (TANM).

In the Fall of 2012, The University of New Mexico began its Visiting Guest Professor Program. Since its inception, numerous master artists have come to choreograph and teach students in the Dance Program’s Flamenco Concentration. The National Institute of Flamenco proudly assists in facilitating this artistic exchange.

The National Institute of Flamenco provides Guest Artist Residencies for TANM. Master musicians and dancers teach and choreograph young student artists in this public charter school, providing an underserved population with access to some of the greatest Flamenco and Spanish Dance artists in the world.

Guests Artists teach and mentor a diverse group of students at the Conservatory of Flamenco Arts. These artists frequently perform at Tablao Flamenco Albuquerque and El Farol, Santa Fe, and with Yjastros: The American Flamenco Repertory Company, allowing local audiences to experience dancers and musicians at the pinnacle of their forms.

Carmen Coy & Jesús Perona’s Fall 2023 residencies are made possible in part with support from the Spain/USA Foundation.
