Yjastros: The American Flamenco Repertory Company is an internationally acclaimed group of artists representing the distinctive flamenco culture of the American Southwest. Named for "hijastro," the Spanish word meaning “stepchild," Yjastros was founded in 1999 by Artistic Director Joaquín Encinias. Hailing from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Yjastros is s a living archive over over 70 repertory works spanning traditional flamenco to genre-defying explorations by visionary artists from Spain and beyond.
