Across New Mexico, young dancers are finding strength, focus, and community through flamenco. Their journeys are made possible by supporters like you. When you give, you help the next generation discover their voice, claim their space, and build a future filled with purpose.
Two young dancers began in our studios with small steps and big dreams. Isabella Nuanez was three when she first entered class; quiet, watchful, determined. Year after year she returned, learning that progress arrives one step at a time and that discipline builds confidence. Flamenco helped her stand tall and claim her voice. Today she dances with Yjastros, teaches young students at our Conservatory, and leads our statewide outreach programs, bringing flamenco and empowerment to children who might never otherwise encounter the arts.
Her best friend, Isabella Alderete, started dancing at five and immediately felt at home. Flamenco became her language and her calling. She chose to study dance at the University of New Mexico; a brave and honest decision. This year she won first prize at the Flamenco Certamen USA in New York and earned the opportunity to perform in Madrid. Shortly afterward, the two premiered an original work on a New York stage, sharing the art form they grew up with on an international level. Their journeys began here; shaped by community, guidance, and opportunity. When you give, you make stories like theirs possible; you help young people rise with confidence, purpose, and pride.
